SAINT-BONIFACE, December 6, 2017 – Festival du Voyageur is pleased to announce that the Beard Growing Contest will be back for its 36th edition. The registration period for the Festival Beard (clean shaven) category will take place on December 8 and 9, 2017.
Festival du Voyageur is proud to partner with the Heart & Stroke Foundation and assist in raising funds for a good cause! This year’s contest will have 4 categories: Clean shaven, Open, Voyageur beard and Novelty.
HAVING YOUR HEART SET ON GROWING A BEARD
By registering for the Festival Beard (clean shaven) category, participants agree to sign up on December 8 or 9 and let their beard grow until the Beard Growing Contest on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Voyageur Park! Registration for the Festival Beard (clean shaven) category will happen over two days, two different ways:
- December 8, 2017 – Participants can register at our office (233 Provencher Blvd.) between 8:30 am and 6 pm. They must arrive freshly SHAVEN and we will take a photo of them.
- December 9, 2017 – Participants can also register at Waltz On In Barber Shop (68 Sherbrooke St) between 9 a.m. and noon. They must arrive UNSHAVEN and will receive a free straight razor shave. However, anyone interested MUST call the Waltz on In Barbershop (204) 999-0417) in advance to reserve their spot. Availability is limited.
Contestants will also be asked to raise funds for the Heart & Stroke Foundation during their ten-week growing efforts.
CALLING ALL CRAFTERS
Festival du Voyageur will once again offer the Open category for the Beard Growing Contest in order to be more inclusive of those who would like to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation. To take part in this category, a participant doesn’t have to be able to grow a beard, all he or she has to do is show their originality and make their own beard! The contestant with the most creative beard will take home the grand prize.
Other categories include the Voyageur Beard (wild and woolly) and the Novelty category (groomed mustache or beard). Please note that all participants must be 18 and over to participate in the contest. All participants registered in any of the categories may raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Registration for the Beard Growing Contest (except for the Festival Beard (clean shave) category). There is no registration fee, however participants will have to pay the entry fee for Voyageur Park ($25 for the day or $65 for the entirety of the festival). Participants who will have collected more than $100 in donations will receive $25 on the day of the competition.
