From February 16 to 25, Parc du Voyageur will be transformed into an eagerly awaited celebration of joie de vivre. Large heated tents, wood shavings, music, dance, captivating shows, artistic talents, contests and family activities are back for all to enjoy. Join us for a memorable experience of festivities at Festival du Voyageur 2024! “This is my first year with the Festival team, and the excitement is palpable! We’ve put together an exceptional program, full of great surprises and must-see elements that will make this edition truly special,” explains Breanne Lavallée-Heckert, Executive Director of Festival du Voyageur. “I can’t wait to see all the smiles and share this experience in a fun and safe environment with members of the community,” she concludes. This year music will be at the forefront of the Festival. With over 150 artists featured in the program, we are proud to announce a diverse line-up consisting of talent from Manitoba, Canada and abroad. Among a diverse group of artists not to be missed are The Strumbellas, K’naan, The Lytics, Amos the Kid, Noah Derksen, Attica Riots, Men in Kilts, Dust Rhinos, Al Simmons, Pow Wow 101, Winston Wuttunee and more! Artists Vieux Farka Touré, Jocelyne Baribeau, La Légende de Calamity Jane, Willows, Sala, Andrina Turenne, Les Babineaux Sisters Band, Harry Manx, Hello Fiasco, Akiña and mountain.seed will perform at the Relais du Voyageur. In the heart of Parc du Voyageur, festivalgoers will gather around the warmth of the Infinity Fire and share stories while admiring installations of Indigenous art placed at various locations throughout the park. A brand-new Indigenous art gallery featuring local Indigenous artists will provide a thought-provoking space that’s sure to spark great conversations. Take part in fiddling, jigging, beard growing and pea soup competitions to fully immerse yourself in the festivities. Family activities such as historical interpretation, snow sculptures, Fayt a la min workshops, horse sleigh rides, snowshoeing trail, children’s playground, new sliding tubes and wood carving demonstrations are all in the program this year and geared towards children and festivalgoers with a love for winter activities. The organization is also launching an online 50/50 supported by Craig & Ross! Manitobans can enter for a chance to win while further supporting the organisation. Additionally, festivalgoers who purchase their pass or ticket by January 31 will automatically be entered in a contest to win two Air Canada flights! INDIGENOUS INITIATIVES IN THE HEART OF PARC DU VOYAGEUR Festival du Voyageur will once again present Indigenous art installations in the park. Festivalgoers will also have the opportunity to discover winter stories told in Indigenous languages and a hide tanning demonstration in the Winter Camp. Returning this year, the Infinity Fire presented by Parenty Reitmeier is a gathering place honoring the Red River Métis people around two campfires. The walls of the Infinity Fire will once again be embellished by a Métis art installation designed by local métis artist Candace Lipischak. New! A brand-new Indigenous art gallery presented by The Asper Foundation will feature local artists and provide a thought-provoking space for conversation. The Festival offers unique ways to explore new artistic creations and celebrate Indigenous cultures. TERRASSE À CHANSONS The Boîte à chansons, a mobile concert trailer, returns to its outdoor location in the Terrasse à chansons. It’s here that festival-goers can meet up to dance, eat, drink and warm up to some great music. The daytime program features traditional, family-friendly music, while the evenings feature talented local DJs such as DJ Douzie and DJ Francophone Affaires. CANADA LIFE SCHOOL PROGRAM For this 2024 edition, the Festival du Voyageur’s Canada Life School Program is offering its full range of programming and activities to schools. This program highlights the history, cultures, languages and, of course, the joie de vivre of our ancestors! Students will be entertained by activities, music, presentations and craft kits covering a range of topics, such as a fur auction, Indigenous drumming workshops, Métis beadwork, and so much more!
